Real property transactions can be risky propositions

In 2014, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported an epidemic of desperate homeowners short selling homes through opportunistic dual agents for less than fair market value. The homes were then sold, or “flipped,” for as much as $100,000 more than the original seller’s short sale price. The Gazette-Journal reported that these dual agency sales made up 10 percent of the short sales of homes across northern Nevada.

While short sales may provide desperate sellers the chance to quickly sell their homes, they may not have known the potential gains patience and adequate legal advice could have provided them.
